This blond, American mezzosoprano brought upon us the highest, positive impression right from the start. Ms.Thompson sang "Voi, che sapete" with ease, cultured legato and sparkling color. In the aria "Una voce poco fa" and duet "Dunque io son" she proved not only her coloratura brilliance, she personified exactly the coquettish impression of the character, as well as showing the comical and exciting side of Rosina.

As the star of the evening, Margaret Thompson proved herself as an excellent singer with sympathetic colors, wonderful breath control, outstanding articulation and artistic repose and dominance. In Eboli's aria "0 don fatale", she showed dramatic expression with lyric sentimentality. Ms.Thompson then sang Rosina's aria "Una voce poco fa" with subtle humor, hearty craftiness and captivatingly, beautiful coloratura.
